Another activity was skateboarding thanks to CS Custom by Sandro which he shaped a new custom ramp this year for our event.

Almerimar belongs to the municipality of El Ejido. It is a modern resort town situated 40km west of Almeria city and 160km east of Malaga. It is also well known for the strong wind conditions of Poniente and Levante. Almerimar is also the home spot of the 3x PWA Wave World Champion Victor Fernandez. If you are looking for a relaxed way of life, in a healthy environment, free of stress, then Almerimar is for you.
Almerimar enjoys a perfect all-year-round Mediterranean climate, as does the whole of the Costa Almeria. In the sub-tropical environment temperatures rarely fall below 18ºC. During the summer months the temperature rises above 30ºC and July and August can get much hotter, dropping again around mid-September to a milder, but still warm and enjoyable 23ºC-27ºC degrees. The winters are mild and mostly dry, although the winter evenings can get chilly.
The west wind is Poniente, creating the best conditions for the wave discipline. The east wind is Levante making the spot flatter for good slalom conditions but sometimes when the east wind blows over 35 knots it can create fun wind swell for waves too.
The purpose-built coastal town is a fabulous family holiday resort; boasting 13km of wide, sandy beaches with excellent clean blue waters for swimming and a host of aquatic sports facilities for enthusiasts: windsurfing, surf, sup, kitesurf, swimming, fishing, diving, boating and yachting are all available. There is a 1,000-berth marina and yacht club in the town and tuition is available for beginners.
Almerimar also has its 18-hole golf course with first-class facilities, hire of clubs, buggies and a golf shop. There is also a lovely fishing harbor – the local catch is Tuna, hotels, restaurants, bars and shopping centers within the town. Indeed, everything you could wish from a holiday resort.
Almerimar is well situated in, only an hour and a half drive from the Sierra Nevada Ski Resort, where aside from skiing and snowboarding, you can also enjoy a range of activities such as hiking, rock climbing, canoeing and cycling. The climate is typically Mediterranean, warm and dry for most of the year. Almerimar boasts the most hours of sun in Andalucia, on average 3000 hours per year and very little rain.
Almerimar is a self-sufficient resort, but close to several towns and villages should you wish to visit the local area, including the holiday destination Roquetas de Mar, which is a short drive away from the town.

The first edition of the Victor Fernandez PWA Youth World Cup Almerimar in 2018 was a great success. 36 kids from all over the world came to compete at the first tour stop of the PWA in the discipline wave. We will expect even more competitors for 2019. We have already almost 20 local riders, who are training hard for this event. 14 kids from the Víctor Fernández Club and 3 kids from the Windsurf Mar Azul Club.
The Victor Fernandez Club is very proud of their own young talents. Last season, three riders of the Víctor Fernández Club placed 3rd overall in the PWA Wave World Ranking. Jose Antonio Casanova U17, Regina Villegas U20 and Miguel Casanova U15.
The future of the sport will meet in Almerimar to compete in the best conditions for Slalom & Wave. This event is more then a competition itself. It is about parents, children, spectators and competitors that are sharing the same passion.
Since the opening in 2012, thousands of water sports fans have visited the Victor Fernandez Center. The main focus of the center is to work with children and to build up a group of young talents and to support them. That’s why we worked hard to make the 2nd edition of the Victor Fernandez PWA Youth World Cup Almerimar possible and our plan is to make the home of the 3x PWA Wave World Champion a regular stop in the PWA calendar.

The first edition of the PWA Junior World Cup organized by Víctor Fernández Center Club has been very successfull, an entry of thirty eight riders of seven nationalities to compete on the wave discipline and sixty two riders register between the Spanish Championship & PWA.
The event has taken place in the bay of Almerimar situated in front of Víctor Fernández Center, from the 2nd to the 5th of january. 2 events has taken place, the first Spanish Championship of the year and the first PWA Junior World Cup in the disciplines of Wave & Slalom. Next stop of the PWA Junior Tour will take place in Gran Canaria in july.
The week started with warm weather and no wind, an oportunity for the competitors to do other water activities that Víctor Fernández Center offers. On the last day of competition the waves started very early without wind so the slalom discipline was cancel and everything came down to the wave discipline. At 1 pm the wind picked up and the contest started directly with the first rounds of the PWA Junior fleet.
The wind is not easy to find in our sport to compete, but in this kind of events all goes farther than the competition on his own, as the juniors are pasionated about the sport and they will face each other in more competitions during the year on the national & international tours.
In terms of participation , 14 boys & girls of Víctor Fernández Club have competed, 3 of Club Windsurf Mar Azul Almerimar, definitely great news for the town of El Ejido having the biggest fleet on their local event. Results from the locals have been good as they have gotten pódiums in the different age categories & it´s a good start for the ranking 2018.

¨This is first event organized by our Club Víctor Fernández and it would not be posible with the support of the sponsors, El Ejido town hall and the all the team behind working for this event¨.
¨We started to organized the event 3 months ago, and there are a lot of things to prepare for the competitors to have a good set up and confort.
We have started now for 2019 so we hope to make the event even better and on the same dates as we think Almerimar has a good chance of good conditions for slalom & wave. Also we always think it´s a good time for kids as they are on holidays. This event plus Culoperro in spring break (Second stop of the Spanish Championship) prove that Almeirmar is an important place for windsurfing¨.
¨I´m very happy for the local kids as they have windsurfed very well and they have started the PWA Junior tour in good rankings before the upcoming events in Gran Canaria & Tenerife¨.
Therefore, ¨to me is an honor to organize events of this kind specially for the juniors, I want to give the opportunity to other kids to live my experience of this amazing sport that gave me everything¨.
