After the success of the previous events in 2018 and 2019, the municipality of El Ejido is consolidated as one of the most important destinations in South of Europe for windsurfing and other water sports.

The event has hosted 35 international windsurfers from countries such as Germany, Belgium, Denmark, France, Italy and Spain.

Lay days

The no wind days had fun activities for the young riders. Starting on the first day with a Team Sup race where they had to put in play their best skills as well as teammates while paddling. Another activity was skateboarding thanks to CS Custom by Sandro which he shaped a new custom ramp this year for our event.

Keeping our oceans and beaches clean

We do care about our planet and our oceans are not clean at all. We did a morning Sup ocean and beach clean up where we collected lots of plastic. Thanks to everyone for joining us.

Four Elimination rounds of Slalom

The east winds conditions of Levante have allowed the Slalom discipline to get a great result. Four elimination rounds per category were completed on day 3 with light winds where the riders sail from 9.0 to 6.6 sizes. From start to finish we had very exciting battles in all categories. These are the winners of each category:

Boys U 20, Cyril Evrard (BEL-250) started winning the first race of the day adding a 2nd and another 1st to secure the win. Girls U 20, Julia Pasquale (ESP-229) which is well known for her wave skills sign up for her first Slalom event ever and she won with a lot of consistency. In Boys U 17, Nicolo Spanu (ITA-15) won every elimination as well as her sister Maddalena Spanu (ITA-75) in Girls U 17, being the most regular riders of the event as well as Anton Richter (GER-441) doing his first PWA apperence in Boys U 15.

As for the local participation, they have managed to get on to the podium in most of the categories.

Boys U 20, Cosme Martín (ESP-720) in 2nd place, Girls U 17 Noelia Fuentes (ESP-409) 2nd place and Miguel Mirón (ESP-918) with a third place in Boys U15.

Víctor Fernández: “It has been a great success in participation and organization. For our municipality, it is very important to have such an important event of the PWA and start with the first stop of the PWA Youth tour and to have some of the best young windsurfers in the World. Finally, I would like to thank the sponsors, competitors, volunteers and the team behind the event because without them it would not be possible to organize a magnificent competition again ». We are looking forward to seeing you all again in 2021.

The PWA Youth 2020 tour begins its season in Almerimar waiting for the following PWA stops in Gran Canaria and Tenerife in the summer, as well as in Maui in autumn.
